Shelly Laresannounced last year that the Tejano music icon would be retiring from touring at the end of 2022 to focus on a new career in nursing. “Little Miss Dynamite” announced the date for her last ever performance atTejano Music Awards Fan Fairon Thursday (Jan. 13) via Instagram.
“Everyone has been asking me if I am performing at TMA fan fair in March,” she penned on Instagram. “YES, my band and I will be there which will be my FINAL fan fair performance since 2022 is my final year of touring.”
The performance will take place on Saturday, March 19, at 11:15 pm on the North San Saba Stage at historic Market Square in downtown San Antonio, according to the post.
Lares, who started recording professionally at the age of 10,revealed in a Facebook post last yearthat she was retiring after 40 years in the Tejano industry to pursue other interests, namely a career in nursing.
“I just feel like there’s something out there for me that is bigger than life,” Lares said at the time. “And that is helping another life. And that is what I want to do.”
The Tejano superstar said that in addition to the gift of music, God has blessed her with compassion, empathy, and nurturing and she wants to put those gifts to use.
