Tejano icon Emilio Navaira will be honored with a musical tribute by the San Antonio Symphony and his sons in a one-night only performance.

“A Tribute to Emilio Navaira” is scheduled for January 31 at the Tobin Center in San Antonio, Texas, featuring the late singer’s sons, Emilio Navaira IV and Diego Navaira, along with his band and the San Antonio Symphony led by conductor Troy Peters. The performance will feature songs from the Grammy Award-winning singer, whose career spanned over three decades, with Tejano and Country albums.

“We’re honoring my dad in an epic way,” Diego Navaira posted on Instagram. “I can’t wait to sing his music with an orchestra behind me.”

“I’m grateful to the symphony for putting on this tribute,” Raulito Navaira, Emilio’s brother, told KSAT.com. “Emilio and I had performed all our songs with them back in the 90s and it was an incredible experience, and now with my nephew’s Emilio IV and Diego Navaira, it’s just going to be amazing. I’m very excited.”

Emilio Navaira passed away due to natural causes of cardiovascular disease at his home in New Braunfels, Texas, on May 16, 2016. He was 53.

Tickets for “A Tribute to Emilio Navaira” are on sale now at TobinCenter.org.
