Torres played his last gig with Little Joe Y La Familia this past weekend, according to a Facebook post on October 26.
“The past four years playing with Little Joe y La Familia have been an experience of a lifetime! I am honored to have been able to stand next to a living legend every night and sing & play the kind of music I love, with some of the best musicians in the industry, and play to some of the best fans in the world! And I hope all those friends and fans that have been so amazing to me through these years will continue with me, on to the next chapter of my career with my brothers of La 45! This weekend will be my last public performances with the King of the Brown Sound, and I will be enjoying every moment of it!”
La 45, who recently signed with VMB Music Group, is described as the next generation of Chicano music.
“We really try to stick to the Chicano sound,” Torres said. “We have a five piece horn section – two trumpets, two sax and a trombone – and we’re huge fans of Little Joe, Latin Breed, Royal Jesters, all the bands from the 70s. We’re trying to do something that incorporates all that and still brings us into today and give us kind of that newer sound too.”
La 45 plans to release their debut album soon.
