The audition dates for the 2017 edition of Tejano Idol have been set, competition officials announced Wednesday.
The Austin Tejano Music Coalition, the non-profit organization that sponsors Tejano Idol, is in search of future Tejano Music stars. The nationwide singing contest has been initiated to highlight Tejano Music and showcase unknown talent. Amateur singers of all ages are asked tosend an email to Aggie Saldana-Sanchez, at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you plan to attend one of the upcoming auditions.
Auditions are currently scheduled for June 25 in San Antonio at Far West Entertainment Center, July 9 at Hacienda Records in Corpus Christi and a site to be announced in Ft. Worth. The month of August features auditions in McAllen on August 6 at Jose & Carlos and August 20 at location to be announced in Dallas. All times for auditions are 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., with dates and times subject to change.
Singers can also submit an online audition via YouTube, instructions and entry forms are available at www.atmc-tejanoidol.com.
The Top 16 finalists will be announced first week of September with a finale scheduled for October 1 in Austin. The Tejano Idol winner will be awarded $1000, a recording session with Freddie Records, a video and photo shoot. Second place will receive $500, a recording session with Hacienda Records, along with a video and photo shoot. Third place will receive $250 with a photo and video shoot. The Top 5 finalist will receive a trophy, with medals and certificates awarded to all finalists.
