Tejano music legend Ram Herrera is celebrating a powerful milestone in his battle against prostate cancer — the completion of his radiation treatment.

Receiving a Certificate of Completion this week marking his final day of radiation, Herrera beamed with gratitude as he thanked the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who supported him throughout his journey. The beloved singer was also presented with a beautiful teddy bear and a special microphone — two symbolic gifts representing comfort, strength, and the music that continues to define his life.

“My FINAL DAY OF RADIATION TREATMENT! COMPLETED!” Herrera shared with fans in a social media video. “First and foremost, I give all glory and honor to Almighty God. There are no words to fully express the gratitude in my heart. I am thankful beyond measure.”

Herrera, 66, first revealed last September that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer — a diagnosis he described as frightening but treatable. Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, the Tejano icon approached the fight with faith, determination, and the unwavering support of his loved ones.

“To my beautiful wife, Lizé Estrada-Herrera — thank you,” he wrote. “When I didn’t want to go to the doctor, you lovingly insisted. You pushed me out of my comfort zone, and that decision truly saved my life. Your strength carried me when I needed it most.”

Although diagnosed at Stage 4, Herrera said the cancer was caught in time.

“With God’s grace, the prayers of so many, and my wife standing firmly by my side, and family and friends checking on me, I was able to overcome it,” he shared.

Herrera admitted the treatment process was challenging but not as terrifying as he initially feared.

“I experienced exhaustion, hot sweats, and some mood adjustments — but I kept my faith strong and followed my doctor’s instructions, trusting that I would be okay,” he explained.

He expressed deep gratitude to the team at the San Antonio Cancer Center, crediting them with making a difficult chapter more manageable through their compassion and care.

Beyond celebrating his milestone, Herrera is using his platform to deliver an urgent message to men everywhere.

“To every man 50 and older — please get checked. Don’t delay. The process is not as bad as you might think, and it could save your life. Your family loves you. Your presence matters. Your health is worth it.”

Today, Herrera stands filled with humility and faith.

“God is good. Always.”

Known as “The Outlaw” of Tejano music, Herrera rose to prominence in the early 1980s as the dynamic frontman for David Lee Garza y Los Musicales before launching his own successful career with The Outlaws. His gold-certified 1986 debut album Most Wanted Man and 1989’s The Outlaw cemented his status as one of the genre’s most powerful and influential voices.

Over the decades, Herrera has earned Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, multiple Tejano Music Awards, and a devoted fan base that has followed him through triumphs and trials. Fans also recall his remarkable recovery in 2017, when he overcame a knee infection, collapsed lung, and heart complications — a testament to his resilience.

Last summer marked 45 years in the Tejano music industry for Herrera, and in June he married Lizé Estrada-Herrera, whom he credits as a cornerstone of strength throughout his cancer fight. In recent years, he has also embraced gospel music, using his voice to share messages of faith and hope.

As he steps into this next chapter, Herrera remains focused on healing, faith, and the stage he loves.

“I want to keep on singing. I want to still be around. I got a lot of life left,” he told fans.

For Ram Herrera, this milestone is not the end of a journey — it’s the beginning of a renewed one, fueled by gratitude, resilience, and an unwavering belief that faith can carry you through even the toughest battles.
