HOUSTON, Texas — Avizo, the dynamic Tejano and Latin band that has become a staple of Houston’s music scene, is back with a new music video for “La Cacahuata,” a track that blends nostalgia and modernity in perfect harmony. The song is a reimagining of the classic, which was originally produced over 50 years ago and will be on the upcoming album En Mi Barrio. Avizo’s rendition breathes new life into the timeless tune, adding a soulful twist while honoring its musical roots.

“I was looking for something to feature our horn section,” Avizo bandleader Robert Dorantes tells Tejano Nation. “I’ve got some great horn players that have been with me the whole ride for 40 years.”

The video, shot in Houston’s iconic Hidalgo Park by director Lupe Moya, is a love letter to the East End neighborhood where many of the band members grew up and began their musical journey. For Avizo, Hidalgo Park is more than just a backdrop—it’s a place steeped in memories, where they performed as school kids, connected with the community, and formed the bonds that would later define their unique sound.

“I had the video shot at a park where a lot of us in the band grew up at, did shows there,” added Dorantes. “So there’s a lot of history at that park for us and that’s why the CD is going to be called En El Barrio.”

With a “then and now” concept, the music video juxtaposes imagines the band’s early days portrayed by young family members with present-day scenes of Avizo performing in the same familiar locations. This blend of past and present serves as a visual testament to their growth and success, while also paying tribute to the neighborhood that nurtured them. The footage captures the essence of the East End, showing the heart and soul of Houston that continues to inspire Avizo’s music.

At its core, the video celebrates community, connection, and the authenticity that has always been central to Avizo’s identity. Through the video, the band reaffirms their love for their city, their roots, and the people who have supported them throughout the years. As the upcoming album’s title suggests, Avizo’s connection to their barrio—and to the people who helped shape their sound—remains as strong as ever. Even as the years pass, the band’s dedication to their music, their heritage, and their hometown is unwavering.

”La Cacahuata” by Avizo is available on all digital music platforms and look for the much anticipated new album in early 2025.
