Ruby Anne, the talented singer from Brownsville, Texas, who was recently named Female Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 All-Star Music Awards last month, is a woman of many talents. Not only is she an accomplished vocalist but she also serves in law enforcement for the past 21 years, a dual role that she embraces with passion and dedication.

“Well, I guess since I’m in law enforcement, I decided, you know what, why not, because there’s more to life than being a cop or being a deputy, sheriff deputy. I feel like there’s just more,” Ruby Anne shared during her recent interview with Domingo Live.

Her journey into music began in 2021 when she met AB Quintanilla III, who introduced her to her first single, “Mi Cumbia”. “He’s my friend. Then I kind of told him I wanted to sing. And then he showed me ‘Mi Cumbia’. And I said, I just need to record one song before I die. And then, no, nevermind, I just did the music video. And then I went to number one and it was on Tejano Gold (Countdown), and I’m still here.”

Currently, Ruby Anne is working on several exciting projects. She is collaborating with Tejano Hall of Famer Shelly Lares on a project that promises to bring something different to her fans. “Right now, Shelly and I are working on this huge project. And I’m super excited because it’s, everybody’s used to my pop cumbia. So this is going to be a little bit different. We’re working on a little bit of country. We’re looking at mariachi. This is just the beginning with Shelly because Shelly is just amazing.”

In addition to her work with Lares, Ruby Anne is also working with Mario Ortiz on another project and Eliseo Lopez with Estruendo, who also produced her song “TQG”.

During the interview, Ruby Anne premiered her new single “Aceptame”. “That song is just an amazing song. It’s just about love. And it’s just recontinuation and just accept me for who I am, basically. But that song, we just wanted to bring something new to your show and that no one had listened to before. So we wanted to be on your show since forever ago.”
