AB Quintanilla Advocates for Awareness with Project Blackbird’s #ShedShame

AB Quintanilla, the multi-Grammy award-winning artist with over 100 million albums sold, has joined Project Blackbird’s #ShedShame campaign, a critical initiative aimed at shedding shame around mental health issues. Quintanilla, who has faced his own challenges with bipolar disorder and PTSD following the tragic murder of his sister Selena, brings a deeply personal perspective to the campaign. His involvement highlights the importance of shared experiences and community support in the healing process.

“AB Quintanilla’s involvement is a testament to the power of shared experiences and the importance of community in the healing process,” said Alexandra Miles, director of the non-profit. “We are honored to have him join us in this vital work.”

Project Blackbird, in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Maybelline New York’s Brave Together Program, focuses on providing education and resources, particularly within the eating disorder community. The campaign encourages confronting shame and promotes pathways to recovery and self-acceptance.

The program includes a tour featuring the short film ‘Blackbird’ and celebrity panel discussions with actors, influencers, and mental health advocates from the NFL and NBA. The aim is to empower individuals to address situations causing shame and connect them with mental health resources.

For those struggling with mental health on campus, licensed therapists at Talkspace are available for support. For more information on booking Project Blackbird and the #ShedShame tour campaign, visit their website, www.projectblackbirdinc.org.
