Amanda Solis, known for her tribute performances to the legendary Selena, is now making waves with her own music. In a recent interview with Keith Leal on the Tejano Time Podcast, Solis discussed her new single “To’a La Noche,” her upcoming album Space Vaquera, and her journey from tribute artist to establishing her own identity in the music industry.

“This is actually going to be the first single to my forthcoming album called the Space Vaquera,” Solis said. The song, pronounced “To’a la Noche,” is a fun, upbeat track that encapsulates the spirit of a girls’ night out. “We’re not here for a long time, but we’re here for a good time,” Solis explained, summarizing the essence of the song.

The music video for “To’a La Noche” was filmed in Corpus Christi, a location chosen for its significance to the career of Solis. “Being that I pay tribute to Selena and that’s how I started and how she paved the way for Latinas like me, we said, hey, we’re going to go ahead and record this video in Corpus,” she shared. The video includes a karaoke scene, a nod to Solis’ beginnings in karaoke, and features the Selena statue and a Whataburger in the background.

The music of Solis is a fresh, new sound under the umbrella of Regional Mexican music. She collaborated with La Machy, who wrote the song, and producer Smoke Beatz. The track also features three-time Grammy winner Sunny Sauceda on the accordion. “I really hope that everybody does accept it,” Solis said, acknowledging the evolution of music and the need for a fresh sound.

The upcoming album Space Vaquera is set to release in the summer. It will include other songs Solis has worked on with Smoke Beatz and La Machy. “This is going to give you a smorgasbord of Amanda Solis,” she said, referring to the versatility of her music. The album’s title reflects her Texan roots and proximity to NASA, symbolizing her journey as a “space girl living in this Houston world.”

Despite her success, Solis remains humble and grateful for her opportunities. She credits Selena for paving the way for Latinas like her and continues to pay tribute to the late singer. “Selena has paved a way for Latina like me, with all the trials and tribulations that I’ve been through, that she showed me, that I too can live the American dream,” she said.

For Solis, her music is not about fame but about passion and therapy. She looks forward to sharing her own stories through her music and hopes to inspire others to live their dreams. “I want to say that for other people, again, me as an artist is not so much for the fame… it’s because I actually love, have a passion for music, and this is another way for me, it’s like therapy,” she concluded
