Los Temerarios, one of the most influential and beloved groups in Latin music, have decided to end their musical career after more than four decades of success. The brothers Adolfo and Gustavo Ángel, who formed the band in 1978, announced their retirement in a statement shared to social media on August 28, 2023.
“With the love that has united us since we were kids, the same that we feel for the vocation that we’ve had the privilege of working in for more than 46 years, we want to share that we’ve made the difficult decision of separating, closing one of the most important and gratifying cycles of our lives,” they said.
Los Temerarios are considered pioneers of the grupero genre, a fusion of Mexican folk, pop, and rock music. They have released more than 30 albums and have sold millions of copies worldwide. They have also won multiple awards, including a Latin Grammy, a Billboard Latin Music Award, and a Lo Nuestro Award. Some of their most popular songs include “Te Quiero”, “Mi Vida Eres Tú”, “Como Tú” and “Si Tú Te Vas”.
The duo expressed their gratitude to their fans, the media, the promoters, and the collaborators who have supported them throughout their career. “We are eternally grateful to our fans that have so generously embraced our music with their hearts and have been the fuel and inspiration of our career. To the media who has supported us with respect and integrity throughout these years. To the promoters and collaborators who are part of this project, whose mission is to expand our music made to honor love, the magic, and mystery that unites us and gives life meaning,” they said.
Los Temerarios will perform their last tour from September 2023 to November 2024, visiting Mexico, the United States, and some Central and South American countries. “Everything that we express from this moment on will be in form of music and in our next shows where we’ll be giving you the best of us,” they concluded.
Los Temerarios’ retirement marks the end of an era for Latin music fans who grew up listening to their romantic ballads and upbeat tunes. They will surely be missed by many, but their legacy will live on through their songs.
