Ernest G & The Satin Drops released their debut album, “Mis Recuerdos,” on digital platforms and music stores today (May 19).

Ernest Gonzales, guitarist and co-owner of Grupo Alamo, has long dreamed of releasing a solo album. The Satin Drops, made up of family members and friends, were formed by Ernest G in the early 1960’s.

The band’s success was demonstrated with frequent performances throughout the state of Texas. Notwithstanding, an unavoidable pivot played a huge role as to why a Satin Drops record never came to fruition until now.

“Any chance of recording an album was squandered when my brother and I got drafted for the Vietnam war,” said Gonzales. “This release is a long time coming. The Satin Drops are reborn, and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

After many accolades, which include three Latin Grammy nominations with Grupo Alamo, Ernest G set his sights on chronicling the concept he devised decades ago. “Mis Recuerdos” is an eight track representation of that vision that features the classic Tejano sound of big brass, as well as Conjunto stylings, and romantic boleros.

Produced by Joel Guzman and Ernie Gonzales, this Ro’ Records production exhibits an acclaimed roster of talent that introduce Chente BarreraSteve RothValentino MaltosJuan TreviñoEddie PerezLarry Villanueva, brothers Armando and Sinuhe Aussenac, and Carlos Alvarez. “Mis Recuerdos” was recorded between Reel Tracks Studio in San Antonio, Texas, and the legendary Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.
