Conjunto accordionist Brenda Martinez launched Sweet Sessories last year, her own boutique featuring a variety of handmade jewelry and other gifts with a “sweet” theme. Since then, she has created seasonal offerings for Halloween, Christmas, and more.
Brenda’s latest seasonal collection is in honor of San Antonio’s famous Fiesta celebration and the iconic and collectible medals that are hallmarks of the event. The Sweet Sessories Fiesta medal collection features her trademark handmade polymer clay miniature conchitas, marranitos, and chicken on a stick.
While Sweet Sessories is an online boutique, these special edition pieces are only available at upcoming in-person pop-up events during Fiesta. The first event begins at noon on Saturday, March 26 at Joe’s Ice House (3711 West Avenue, San Antonio) and the second event will be at Pica Pica Plaza (910 SE Military Drive, San Antonio) on Wednesday, March 30, from 3pm to 7pm.
As for Brenda herself, when she is not hard at work creating miniature versions of tacos, pan dulce, and other items, she is busy writing new music for her upcoming sophomore album on Rancho Alegre Records. While her debut album, Favoritas de Mis Padres, was 100% instrumental and earned her a Tejano Music Award nomination in the Best New Artist – Female category, her next album will feature her own vocals and new original music. She is scheduled to get back in the recording studio this fall.
