Quintanilla address those that feel he is profiting from daughter

Abraham Quintanillaaddressed the people that feel he is profiting from the death of his daughterSelena, the “Queen of Cumbia” that has become a worldwide bicultural icon since her murder in 1995 at the age of 23.

Quintanilla shared his thoughts in part two of a two-part interview withThe AC Cruz Podcast. “I say so what, let them talk. Dogs get old from barking, let them bark all they want to,” he said. “I know that in my heart and my mind and my family, we said from day one that Selena passed away that we were going to keep her memory alive through her music and that’s what we have done for 26 years. Selena right now is known worldwide.”

Mr. Q added Selena was recognized withLifetime Achievement by The Recording Academyat the GRAMMY Awards earlier this year andnamed Greatest Female Latin Artistof All-Time byBillboardmagazine.

Selena fans can also look for a new album filled with previously unreleased songs recorded by Selena in her teen years, which will be produced by her brotherA.B. Quintanilla III.

“As you know that if the singer is young the voice is higher pitched,” said Abraham Quintanilla. “Well, A.B. took 10 songs, we picked 10 songs from the 50 that we have, and he’s done completely new music arrangements that sound incredible.”
