We hear Selena say, “Umm…,” as she thinks about her response, but before she does, the trailer breaks into scenes from Selena’s adult life, starting with her getting the English-language recording contract. Various scenes from her life play out including her plans for marryingChris Perez, Suzette’s character noticing that flowers from fans only say “Selena” on the card and not Los Dinos, and we hear Selena as she says she hasn’t told her band that they can’t be on her English-language album.
Then, a dramatic pause precedes the introduction of darker scenes from Selena’s life, including the entrance of theYolanda Saldivarcharacter as she eagerly offers her assistance, and Selena and Chris engaged in an argument. This section of the trailer ends as we hear the dialogue: “You don’t have to be alone to be independent.’
The beginning notes of “Amor Prohibido” introduce the next section as we see Selena enter the Astrodome on a carriage for her well-known 1995 iconic concert.
We see Selena in the recording studio, in various performance outfits, and cutting the ribbon for the opening of her boutique, Selena, Etc. Additional scenes include Selena as she films the “Amor Prohibido” video and wins her GRAMMY.
The screen goes dark as we again hear the interviewer ask: “When you’re gone, how do you want to be remembered?”
This time, Selena answers: “As somebody who wanted to be a role model. The best daughter, the best sister, the best friend, the best wife. I just want to be remembered as somebody who gave it her all.”
The last view of Selena that we see is her smiling face as she turns around and looks over her shoulder as she finishes her Astrodome performance.
