La Mafia win Best Tejano Album at 21st annual Latin Grammy Awards

La Mafiawon Best Tejano Album at the 21st annualLatin Grammy Awardsfor their live concert albumLive In Mexico. The announcement was made during a pre-show virtual ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

This is the third Latin Grammy win for the group from Houston, Texas. La Mafia previously won back to back Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tejano Album in 2006 withNuevamenteand Best Grupero Album forPara El Puebloin 2005. The group also has two Grammy wins for Best Mexican-American/Tejano Music Performance withUn Millon De Rosasin 1996 and again the following year in 1997 for the same category withEn Tus Manos.

Other nominees for Best Tejano Album included25th Anniversary ContigofromJay Perez,Pelicula, Vol. 1fromSiggno,It’s TimebySouth TX Homies, andPa’ La Pista Y Pa’l Pisto, Vol. 1fromEl Plan.

The 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards telecast will air live on Univision at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT). With the theme “Music Makes Us Human,” the reimagined telecast will be anchored from Miami with uplifting performances from multiple cities around the world.
