Tony GuerreroofLa Sombrais back home recovering after receiving multiple surgeries and spending several weeks in a San Antonio area hospital.
The Tejano R.O.O.T.S. Hall of Fame singer had been in the hospital since June 14 when hetook himself to the emergency roomafter abdominal pain became unbearable. He had developed an infection after aroutine hernia operation in February.
Guerrero took to social media to address his recent health scare and the road to recovery. “Some good news for me, I’m home from the hospital, ” he said in a social media video. “Still in a lot of pain, I’m taking some pain medicine for it. I still got a long journey ahead of me.”
The singer added he received five surgeries over the past 15 days and says it will take time for a full recovery.

“I got four open wounds that I’ve got to take care of, so it’s going to be a long, long journey for it to heal,” he said. “It’s got to heal from the inside out so I’ll be taking of that.”
Guerrero also addressed when “Sombraholics” could expect him to return to performing and making music, “It’s going to be a while because this time I’m going to work on getting 100% better before I do anything.”

La Sombra, known to many fans as “The Windy Boys” because of their hometown of Aurora, Illinois near Chicago, released over twenty full-length studio albums featuring songs in both Spanish and English. Their many hits include “Mi Guerita Coca-Cola”, “El Sapo”, “Pepe le Pew”, and “Porque Te Quiero”, the title track from their 1991 album that peaked at the top of theBillboardRegional Mexican Albums Chart for three weeks.
The group has been credited with influencing the Tejano and cumbia music fields in terms of musical style, dress, and concert performances as well as a generation of newer artists including the Kumbia Kings, according toWikipedia.
