Ilyssa Saenz is set to make her return with a comeback album after many years away from the Tejano music scene.

The singer gave Tejano Nation exclusive details on the upcoming album during an interview at the 38th annual Tejano Music Awards in San Antonio, Texas on November 17.

“It’s going to be a 10 song album, coming out very, very soon,” she said. “I’m super excited about it. I hope you guys are going to enjoy it. There’s some heartbreak songs, there’s some love songs, there’s just some fun party songs, something for everyone.”

The lead single from the album was “Ayer,” a collaboration with Tejano music legend David Lee Garza, who added his talented accordion skills on the track.

“It was very, very awesome to have David Lee, the Godfather of Tejano music, I was very, very honored that he would even come and be on my single,” she said.

Ilyssa made a splash in the Tejano music scene in 2010 with her debut album Estoy Contigo, which spawned a couple of hit singles, including the title track and “Te Amo.” The album’s success garnered her a nomination as Best New Female Artist at the 2011 Tejano Music Awards.

The 28-year-old singer took a short break from singing in order to pursue her college degree from the University of Texas – Pan American, followed by a career in teaching.
