Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes released the music video for “Cuando Pienso En Ti”, a song off their current album, Fortune, and setting the tone for the Fall harvest season while drawing you in to join them in celebration of one of their most cherished Mexican traditions.

Surrounded by flowers, candles, and the vibrant beauty that makes this tradition so special, the video promises to touch hearts with this exquisite Tejano Country musical gem. Those who celebrate Día de los Muertos believe that the gates of heaven open and the spirits return to the mortal world. Traditionally, offerings are brought to cemeteries or altars to welcome them. These typically include favorite foods which can range from fruits, drinks, and even the traditional sweet bread called Pan De Muerto.

Lead singer Laura Denisse commented,” We consider Dia De Los Muertos one of the most important Mexican celebrations. No other country that I know of celebrates death. There is a certain faith you feel that your dearly departed are coming to visit. The video has all the fundamental elements that attract our loved ones to return for this special day. The light of the candles and the cempasúchil flower (marigolds) create that path or el camino for them to follow.”

The video sets the tone for this alluring holiday that treats death as a natural part of life and something to actually celebrate. It is never a sad day, and the happy skulls or calaveras are a traditional symbol of the festivities. Día de los Muertos is a unique Mexican holiday rooted in Aztec and Catholic traditions that celebrate those who died before us.

“The vibe is bittersweet,” added Laura Denisse. “It’s how we Mexicans come face to face with our number one enemy, death, and we confront it and say, here I am. I do not fear you because I, too, will return. And so, we paint our faces like calaveras (skulls) to confuse death, so it passes us by allowing us to mingle with our loved ones, one more time.”

The singer states, “‘Cuando Pienso En Ti’ is about reminiscing. Yes, the song speaks about pain, the kind of pain one feels when you miss a loved one but focuses on the peace you get the moment you remember that special person that is no longer there.”

Laura Denisse Y Los Brillantes invites you into their festive altar with an ornate visual backed by the sounds of a weeping steel guitar flowing gracefully with the accordion creating an enchanting melody that puts you right in the moment. The group is scheduled to perform at Muertos Fest at Hemisfair in San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, October 28.
