Proyecto Insomnio pays tribute to nurses with ‘Super Heroes de Blanco’

ROUND ROCK, TX – Proyecto Insomnio, the Latin Grammy-nominated band is presenting their new album, Super Heroes de Blanco. A blend of Tejano Rock with mixes of bachata and vallenato something very unique and daring.

The album was conceived in the pandemic of 2020 and Super Heroes de Blanco is an homage to all the nurses and medical personnel that fought gallantly in the first lines of defense, risking it all trying to contain the virus. In the words of AC/DC, “We Salute you!”

“The least we could do as appreciation to all of them is to write a song that recounts a day of a nurse that is a mother and the point of view of the husband worrying if he is ever going to see her again after she leaves home to take care of the sick,” the band said in a press release. “An emotive song with Tejano Rock Ballad. We encourage everyone that has friends or family that are nurses and first responders to share the song and listen to the beautiful words of the song.”

The song, “Super Heroes de Blanco,” is on the ballot for Best Regional Mexican Song for this year’s Latin Grammy Awards.

“We are very proud of the outcome, not just musically but with the overall result of the album even though it is an EP of six songs total, the mix of our songs are truly different from what’s out there,” said the band.

Proyecto Insomnio is a self-contained group that writes, produce, record, edit, and arrange all of its music. On this occasion, they teamed with the renowned musician and guitar extraordinaire Antonio Vergara, who took care of the mixing while Claudia Correa did the mastering, making it a superb job, in tune with what was expected and taking care of the sound and intention the songs in the AVA Recording Studios in Ecuador.

“We are very pleased with the results and we are very confident in that we are presenting our album to the Latin Grammys this year 2023,” commented the band. “We are seeking another nomination, and this time we hope the voting members can see past the classic Tejano sound and recognize our approach and our proposal to the Tejano community. We often say that we are NOT trying to be disrespectful to the Tejano sound and community, we are just trying to propose new ways to keep the Tejano music alive and get closer to the new generations, even if that means combining Tejano with other genres. We are always looking for new fusions and try to mix them playfully and with a lot of sweetness, keeping the essence of Tejano so the listener can appreciate the new sounds and genres without compromising the Tejano sound, it’s easier said than done! “

For example in the case of the song, “Tu La Peor”, it recounts the story of a wife that commits adultery against her husband’s brother. In this song, Proyecto Insomnio tried to emphasize the “rage” the husband feels about the situation and nothing screams rage like heavy rock! Yes it’s Tejano Rock!

Proyecto Insomnio is in the Latin Grammys 2023 ballot with Super Heroes de Blanco in two categories, Best Tejano Album and Best Regional Mexican Song for the album’s title track.
