Legendary singer-songwriter Humberto “Beto” Ramon, who has written iconic songs for many Tejano stars, has been diagnosed with kidney cancer, according to a GoFundMe page that has been set up for upcoming health expenses.
Ramon has been with fourth-stage chronic kidney disease, according to his family. His doctor discovered a tumor in his left kidney and due to health risks surgery has been ruled out. The Tejano legend will undergo other methods with his doctor in San Antonio to remove the tumor.
According to the GoFundMe page, trips to San Antonio for doctor appointments, treatment, and lodging, will be costly from his home in south Texas, and the fundraiser has been established to help with those costs. A concert fundraiser is also planned to help with needed proceeds.
Beto Ramon is an award-winning singer-songwriter and Tejano ROOTS Hall of Famer, who has composed classic songs for Jimmy Gonzalez and Mazz, Laura Canales, Ramon Ayala, Jay Perez, and La Diferenzia, to name just a few.
