There is no denying the current wave of new female talent in Tejano music over thE past couple of years. Dallas native Nicole Padilla is the next emerging artist for you to discover as the 21-year-old premiered the official music video for her latest single, “Voy a Llorar,” on Wednesday (Dec. 7).

Padilla began singing at the age of 10 and even taught herself to play the accordion using an app. The vocalist shared the thought process behind her latest single which was written by Agustin Zavaleta.

“The first thing I thought about was heartbreak. We all go through heartbroken stuff,” Padilla tells Tejano Nation. “I was going through some stuff and I was like, you know what, I want a song that talks about crying you know that’s sad or something but at the same time I want it to be enjoyable so people can dance.”

“Voy a Llorar” is just the latest released from Padilla, who has released a few songs over the past couple of years that are danceable accordion-driven cumbias.

“I try to make my music positive, very danceable just to get up right away and dance and have a great time,” added Padilla. “I love dancing so anything like cumbias gets me excited, it gets me on my feet quick. Most importantly, the connection that they receive with it is positive. All that good stuff.”

“Voy a Llorar” from Nicole Padilla is available to stream or download on all digital music platforms.
