Pio Treviño reschedules concerts after involved in auto accident this week

Tejano music legend Pio Treviño rescheduled two Texas shows scheduled for this weekend after the singer was involved in an auto accident on Tuesday (Aug. 23).

Pio Treviño Y Magic was scheduled to perform at Dodge City Saloon in Victoria on Saturday and Texas Snowbirds in La Porte on Sunday.

Bessie Treviño shared a statement via social media on Thursday. “Due to a very bad accident Pio and I were in on Tuesday we will have to cancel these two shows that was scheduled this coming weekend. We will both be ok. Pio is not strong enough to perform. We will reschedule as soon as possible. Please keep us in your prayers. Thank you and God bless.”

Starting as a vocalist in the early ’70s for regional groups such as Los Exitos, and Sangre Chicana, Treviño drew national attention when he became the lead singer for La Movida. The group became an instant success, making the crooner a household name. He was the lead vocalist and composer of many of La Movida’s songs for several years until the formation of his own group Majic. The singer received a Grammy nomination in 1988 with his album “Quiero Verte Otra Vez” for Best Mexican-American Performance.

The “Magic Man” is one of the most well-known and charismatic artists in Tejano music and he signed with Freddie Records in September 2019, releasing the album Eso Labios in March 2020. His currently working on another album and recently released the single “Mucho Miedo.”
